
The University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh is home to the AACSB accredited College of Business. Students are educated in Sage Hall, a four-story, state-of-the-art building, opened in 2011, after two years of construction and $5 million. The business students that make up this school are among the brightest in the country. Senior business students ranked among the top five percent in the nation on the Educational Testing Services business knowledge assessment, and graduate students also scored among the top five percent on the MBA students’ assessment exam. Additionally, the school is among the top 10 schools for the first-time pass rate on the CMA exam. The rigorous curriculum prepares students to not only be successful in exams but to serve in leadership roles throughout the community and world-wide. Within nine months of graduation, 95% of recent alumni are employed full-time.
Education
Undergraduate students have the option to major in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Interactive Web Management, Management, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management. Students are required to complete a global knowledge component, such as a course in International Accounting or Economics of Latin America. An International Study Tour or Economics of the Caribbean through Service Learning are perfect for students who learn best by doing. Another experiential learning experience available on campus is the trading lab, which teaches students about stock markets in live-time. The business minors can help students gain advanced knowledge about a specific area, such as Analytics, Business Economics, Global Business, Insurance and Risk Management, Operations Research, or Sustainability Management. Some of the undergraduate business certificates include Digital Marketing, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, and Sales.
The COB features a master’s degree in Applied Biotechnology, Information Technology, Sustainable Management, and a Master of Business Administration. The MBA is offered in professional and executive formats. The Professional MBA program meets on weekday evenings in Appleton or Oshkosh, and students typically take 3.5 to 4 years to graduate. The Executive MBA program only meets on Saturdays in Appleton, but moves at a much faster pace, with students able to move through their degree in as few as 16 months. Students can also earn a Data Analytics certificate in two semesters by attending classes at the Appleton campus one evening per week.
Student Life
During the 2018-2019 school year, 400 students completed an internship or co-op with over 220 companies. By graduation, COB students are required to have completed at least 100 internship hours, and 41% of students are offered full-time employment through their internship site. Students can also get involved in an organization, such as Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, Future Business Leaders of America, Interactive Web Management Club, Society for Human Resource Management, and many others. The annual College to Career Conference helps students build professional connections and feel more confident about this transition.
Online Programs
Students who want to earn a Master of Business Administration, but can’t attend campus can earn their Professional MBA degree fully online. The UW Oshkosh College of Business is a member of the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium. Classes are offered in seven-week or 14-week sessions, with a focus on Management.
