Emerson College, a private 4-year institution located in Boston, MA was founded in 1880 by Charles Wesley Emerson as the Boston Conservatory of Elocution, Oratory, and Dramatic Art. The college was moved from the Back Bay area to the historic Washington Street Theatre District adjacent to Boston Common. The school’s campus features 5 performing arts venues including the Paramount Center, Cutler Majestic Theatre, Bill Bordy Auditorium, Semel Theater and Greene Theater. The urban setting right in the Theatre District allows for close contact with the performing arts – which is what Emerson is noted for. Among many notable alumni are journalist Morton Dean, producer Vin Di Bona and actor Denis Leary, announcer Don Pardo.
