Atlanta Metropolitan State College is an access institution of the greater University System of Georgia. Their mission is to “educate students from diverse backgrounds by providing affordable, career-focused bachelor’s and associate degree programs. The College offers student-centered instruction, civic/community engagement, and quality services that lead to the success of its inter-generational 21st-century graduates.” The Associate of Business Administration program, available through the School of Business and Information Technology, is nationally accredited by the prestigious ACBSP and can be completed online or in a traditional on-campus format.

Education

At AMSC, majors are offered in Business or Financial Technology. Courses for both degrees include Economics, Financial Technology, Accounting, Computer Programming, and Marketing. Students have the ability to work on their degree on a part-time or full-time basis with a four-year or six-year curriculum layout. At the Associate’s level, there are two options in Business Administration or Computer Information Systems. These degrees are typically completed in two-years but give the flexibility of working at your own pace as well.

Student Life

At Atlanta Metropolitan State College, the Office of Student Activities takes many steps to support students outside of the classroom, both academically and socially. There are a variety of student organizations on campus, such as Art Club, Bowling Club, Math Club, and Dance Troupe. AMSC students also pass the time by participating in intramural sports, volleyball, gym basketball, and more. The Federal TRIO program is a unique academic support system designed specifically for low income/first-generation college students. For students who qualify, this program includes additional support services in the areas of academics, career goals, and financial planning. The Upward division within TRIO works with the college to prepare high school students for entrance into college. Phi Theta Kappa and Brother-2-Brother are also programs that give students from diverse student backgrounds, additional support, and encouragement as they work to advance their careers and knowledge base.

AMSC is also considered an adult learner friendly campus. There are numerous online, weekend, and evening class options for many degrees. Multiple start times throughout the year, and affordable pricing, make starting a degree more approachable. Atlanta Metropolitan works in collaboration with the Georgia Employee Career Program gives state employees the ability to attain training and post-secondary degrees.

Online Programs

More than 180 courses are offered in a distance-learning format through the Online Programs division at AMSC. Most degrees can be completed in a hybrid format with a mixture of online and on-campus courses. Still, business students who are just beginning their educational journey can complete their Associate’s of Business Administration fully online in two years. Because the College has a strong focus on adult learners, there are many resources in place to help navigate the online learning environment.
