Education
The College of Business is committed to offering programs to undergraduate students that will prepare them to become highly skilled professionals, productive citizens, and influential civic leaders. The hope is that business school graduates will apply their expertise to fuel growth among Louisiana businesses and the rest of the world as well. To succeed in the modern workplace, today’s business students must prepare for careers that are rapidly changing, use technologies that are continually emerging, and coordinate with workers from all parts of the globe. The College of Business emphasizes its role in encouraging personal development and helping students examine personal and professional values and commitments.
In striving to make higher education relevant in the workforce, the business school focuses on producing graduates with critical thinking abilities and needed skills to communicate effectively, solve problems quickly, work in collaboration, and adapt to evolving scenarios. In addition to the soft skills of business leadership, the school also emphasizes hard skills associated with specific tasks by partnering with organizations to meet their workforce development strategy. Business school leadership is also strengthening student competencies in lower and middle skill-vocations, such as information technologies and foundation skills.
Student Life
Degrees in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Hospitality Tourism Management, Marketing, and Management are all currently found in the College of Business at Grambling State University. The business school supports all business student clubs and organizations, including Phi Beta Lambda, which is open to all of the University’s majors. In addition to offering quality instruction, the College of Business has a diverse staff and faculty who are committed to encouraging students from all walks of life in professional, emotional, and intellectual development. The College of Business Annual Scholarship Brunch is an event held every fall semester which allows students to network with business leaders and educators while seeing what opportunities exist in scholarship potential. Students are steered to the business school’s Scholarship Fund Application, which was implemented to initiate acceptance into this program.
Online Programs
The College of Business currently offers three online courses for undergraduate students in Accounting, Economics, and Finance. The three courses are Advanced Accounting and two Financial Accounting classes. There are also seven Blended/Hybrid courses for bachelor’s students, including Auditing, Financial Accounting, Contemporary Issues-Accounting Ethics, Fundamentals of Business, Organizational Behavior, and Principles and Policies of Management. The Fundamentals of Business courses are offered at two separate times.
