Houston Baptist University’s Archie W. Dunham College of Business is on a mission to build “innovative leaders of character.” As a Christian institution, the College strives to provide the tools and ideas students need to discover their God-given calling and integrate their personal, spiritual, and professional lives. The ACBSP-accredited business programs and high-quality faculty instruct over 650 ethnically diverse undergraduate and graduate students in small class settings. They are mentored, develop strong moral character, enhance their values, and are prepared to succeed in the world.

Education

Students pursuing a Bachelors in Business Administration degree can major in Finance, Management, Accounting, International Business, or Marketing. Accounting students can specialize in Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Taxation Accounting, or Audit & Assurance Controls. Undergraduate Accounting and Finance students can apply for the $5,000 Financial Executives International Scholarship.

Graduate students have a Masters in Human Resources Management and a Masters in Business Administration that offers specializations in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, International Business, General Management, or Organizational Development & Change. Those who did not obtain an undergraduate business degree can pursue a Masters in Management & Entrepreneurship. The design of this degree is unique in that it ‘functions like a startup incubator,’ where students work with local business partners to develop a new business idea. Business graduate students can apply for The Texas Business Hall of Fame Future Legends Stewart Morris Scholarship worth $15,000.

Student Life

HBU provides numerous opportunities for business students to study, intern, serve, and minister abroad in the mission of combining academia with the Christian life. There are faculty-led trips and coordinated trips through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities to places all over the world. HBU’s Baptist Student Ministry and Spiritual Life provide local, national, and international service opportunities. The Center for Christianity in Business hosts seminars, mentoring conferences, and networking events equipping Christian leaders and promoting Christian influence in the business world.

Houston is a top city for many corporate headquarters and the fourth largest city in our country, providing incredible experiential learning opportunities for business students. Local business professionals come to campus and give guest lectures, review resumes, and even conduct mock interviews. Many of these organizations, like the Houston Rockets, Merrill Lynch, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, and Landry’s Corporate Office, hire Dunham students for internships.

Student organizations provide experiential learning and professional development opportunities. Business-related groups include the Accounting Student Interest Group, Delta Mu Delta Honor Society, American Marketing Association, Finance Society, and the Society for HR Management (Student Chapter). Business students can also learn through mentorships, case studies, competitions, and hands-on experiences at Dunham’s McNair Center for Entrepreneurship & Free Enterprise.

Online Programs

Offering flexibility, accessibility, and the same high-quality level of excellence, Dunham has created a few 100% online degree programs. There is an online Bachelors in Business Administration in Management, an online MBA with all specializations offered online except Accounting and an online Masters in Human Resources Management.
