The ACBSP-accredited Lukenda School of Business at Lake Superior State University offers affordability, excellence, and quality in its undergraduate business degree programs. Students sit under the instruction of expert professors who get to know them personally through small class sizes, bring in real-world experience, and continue to pursue learning, research, and professional opportunities. Throughout the coursework, students receive an uncompromising curriculum, full of ways to apply their learned knowledge, that challenge and equip them to succeed in achieving their career goals and aspirations.

Education

It’s all about the student. Lukenda ‘prepares students for tomorrow.’ They have even created a degree for the growing and newly legal Cannabis industry, in which there is an increasing demand for knowledgeable leaders and managers. Qualifying business students can apply for the Central Savings Bank Scholarship (full tuition), the Lambda/School of Business Scholarship Endowment, or the Elizabeth Demaray Business Scholarship.

Lukenda provides an Associates in Technical Accounting and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Cannabis Business, and Finance & Economics. Within the BBA degree, students can major in Management, International Business, Entrepreneurship, or Marketing. They also are required to choose a minor from Accounting-Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Sports Marketing, Economics-Finance, International Business, or Public Relations. There are also certificate programs in International Business and E-Marketing.

Students who wish to take their education to an international level can participate in the study abroad program. This specific experience was created for business majors. They can complete coursework at Shaoxing University in China and learn about Chinese culture and international business.

Student Life

To accentuate the classroom experience, Lukenda arranges a variety of learning experiences outside of the classroom. Students gain priceless hands-on experience that benefits them in their academic progress and professional preparedness. For example, students conduct training and projects for local businesses, fully manage money for a real investment fund, and attend forums and conferences like the Student Leadership Conference put on by the Institute of Management Accountants and the American Marketing Association Collegiate Conference.

Student organizations help provide the experiential learning opportunities plus ways to build a professional network and increase essential professional skills. Business-specific clubs include the Accounting Club, Investment Club, Marketing Club, and the Society of Human Resource Management. Out of every opportunity, students gain the most from internships that provide real work experience and professional preparation. Local businesses that have provided internships for business students include the Bay Motel & Family Restaurant, Central Savings Bank, Soo Brewing Co., Blumark, Vegas Kewadin Casino, and Century 21 Advantage Plus.

Along with academic and professional programs, students can participate in health and wellness programs that are beneficial in many ways. LSSU offers intramural and club sports, disc golf, a climbing wall, aquatics, a golf facility, fitness classes, and an outdoor recreation center. University Recreation is available to the LSSU campus and the surrounding neighborhoods.
