At SWOSU, the Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology’s mission is to “provide students with a quality education that equips them with all of the skills needed to be successful in a future job in business.” Their strengths lie in excellent teaching, research, and faculty who build relationships with students to help them excel. The business programs also provide an opportunity for mentorship and coaching with professionals in the community. The School of Business and Technology’s programs are accredited by the IACBE, as well as the ACBSP. They are also a member of the AACSB Business Education Alliance.
Education
The Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology offers a bachelors degree in Business Administration with a choice of focuses, including Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, and Marketing. Graduate degrees are also offered in a Master in Business Administration or a Master of Science in Management. An MBA can be earned in two different formats to fit students’ needs. The business department prides itself on having a dynamic faculty that are “engaged and dedicated to the principles of precision, problem solving and progressiveness.” Technology degrees are available from the School of Business and Technology in the following areas-Computer Science, Engineering Technology, and Applied Engineering Management.
Student Life
Dobson School of Business and Technology students can choose to be a part of Phi Beta Lambda, which is the college division of Future Business Leaders of America, where they can build relationships with other students as well as members of the community. The President’s Leadership Class offers applications each year for top-performing students. Each year about 15 entering Freshmen are chosen for this four-year leadership program that also gives a $1000 scholarship to each student chosen. For students interested in technology and computer science, a NASA Space Grant Scholarship is available, and the University has had a great rate of placing students in NASA center internships since 2006.
Online Programs
The Reach Higher Program is offered at many universities throughout Oklahoma, including SWOSU. It is a degree program designed for working adults who may have started college but never finished a degree. The program consists of online courses in eight-week segments culminating in a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership. Applicants must be 21 years old with a minimum of 72 credit hours to be accepted into the Reach Higher Program. The Dobson School of Business and Technology also offers an MBA in an eight-week per course online format. This delivery method is more accelerated than the sixteen-week hybrid classes also offered. The Master of Science in Management is additionally offered in a similar eight-week per course online format. These programs are both accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education, as well as the Higher Learning Commission.
