The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith’s AACSB-accredited College of Business is in the business of transformation. To transform students into valuable, effective, impactful business professionals, it requires highly qualified and dedicated faculty members, an intellectually rigorous curriculum, a “learning by doing” innovative educational approach, and a focus on excellence in all areas. Graduates are full of competence, ethical perspectives, leadership abilities, drive, creativity, a commitment to serving the community, and readiness to succeed, progress, and impact the global world of business.

Education

The College of Business focuses all of its time, attention, energy, and resources to undergraduate education. Undergraduate studies involve a Bachelors in Business Administration degree in Marketing, Accounting, International Business, Business Administration, or Finance. It also provides a minor in Business Administration. There are also Certificates of Proficiency in Professional Sales and Community Leadership to add even more depth to the academic experience.

Many scholarships and financial aid resources exist for business students, but especially the First Bank Corp. Business Scholarship. It provides full-tuition, fees, and housing assistance. It is highly competitive and is designed for students who are capable leaders and commit to leading certain activities, representing the CoB, and participating in a student advisory position to the dean and faculty.

Student Life

“Learning by doing” is a crucial component of the transformation process. The CoB provides an incredible amount of opportunities through applied research projects, the Student Research Symposium, the student-managed Hembree Student Investment Fund, internships, student organizations, and working with real clients in the community. Business-related student organizations include Beta Alpha Psi, Collegiate Ambassadors Board, Beta Gamma Sigma, Rotaract, Student Leadership Council, and Phi Beta Lambda. Students can also meet people, work as a team, plan events, build character, and help others by participating in the many different campus student activities.

The UAFS College of Business Internship Program helps provide the ideal experience and find the right internships for students. Companies like Ameriprise Financial, USA Truck, Inc., Frost Oil Co., Northwestern Mutual, FedEx Ground, and Cherokee Nation, have participated in the internship program and have also hired graduates.

The Babb Center for Student Professional Development is an essential resource for students. It offers workshops, internships, career preparation events, mentoring, experiential learning opportunities, collaborative efforts with university partners, and the annual Build Your Brand event. Through the Professional Development Program, students explore careers, network with professionals, and gain the vital skills, knowledge, and experience to enter the professional world successfully.

Online Programs

The College has created a 100% online AACSB-accredited Bachelors in Business Administration degree. Online students receive the same high-quality instruction and programming. This degree is designed as a completer degree for students who have already obtained an Associates degree. Online BBA students can choose to pursue electives in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, Marketing, and Law.
