
The AACSB-accredited Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies at the University of Central Missouri is home to the School of Business, the School of Aviation, the School of Human Services, and the School of Public Services. Education
Among the dedicated, hard-working, high-quality faculty members is Charles Schwepker, Jr., Ph.D. He received the Byler Distinguished Faculty Award which is the highest honor given in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies.
Undergraduate students have the option to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in Accountancy, Computer Information Systems, Economics, Entrepreneurship & Social Enterprise, Events Marketing & Management, Finance, International Business, and Risk Management & Insurance. They can also study a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations or Sport Management. There is an accelerated option to receive both your bachelors and masters in Accountancy in just 150 hours. Graduate students can get a Masters in Accountancy, Big Data & Business Analytics, Leadership, Computer Information Systems & Information Technology, and Business Administration.
Student Life
To financially aid business students, the School of Business has numerous scholarships for every area of study including the CenturyLink University of Central Missouri Scholarship for incoming freshmen, the Jonathan Cleveland Creative Marketing Scholarship, the Robert B. Pierce Finance Scholarship, and the Bennie Bargen Scholarship in Accounting. To continue keeping the cost down, the University of Central Missouri provides grant aid in several ways. The Choose Red Grant allows the states that border Missouri to pay the in-state tuition. The Red and Black Scholarship is for new first-year students. Superscore helps ensure students receive the maximum scholarship amount available.
Clubs such as the Accountancy Students Organization, Beta Alpha Psi, the Economics Club, and Omicron Delta Epsilon exist to advance students’ knowledge and experience in preparation for becoming professionals. The Red Investment Management group manages a real-world investment fund. The Public Relations Society of America, PRSA’s MBA/Business School Program is a recent addition and a unique advantage the School of Business has to offer. It is a strategic communications online course designed to educate students on how to utilize communications strategy effectively and efficiently to receive the best possible results in any business endeavor. The Donn G. Forbes Center for Financial Services at the University of Central Missouri is an excellent experiential learning center. Students learn about financial markets and how to navigate them with advanced tools like the LED ticker display, data analysis, and real-time simulation. With the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, students receive income tax training and volunteer their time to serve the university and the community and gain valuable experience.
Online Programs
UCM has a burgeoning offering of online undergraduate, graduate, doctorate and certificate programs available. The highly ranked MBA is also available in a portable, flexible, and convenient online avenue. Concentrations available include Healthcare Administration, International Business, Marketing, and Sports Business.
