
USF Sarasota Manatee boasts a 13:1 student to faculty ratio. Small class sizes and an intimate campus setting allow students to build relationships as they work towards their academic goals. 89% of faculty hold the highest degree in their field, and the business programs carry esteemed AACSB accreditation. There are more than 400 research and internship opportunities available. This focus on hands-on learning gives business students the ability to apply what they are learning in the classroom before they begin their career.
Education
There are eight undergraduate degree options in Accounting, Applied Science, Finance, General Business, Cybersecurity and IT, Management, Marketing, or Risk Management & Insurance. The RMI program through USF Sarasota Manatee is one out of only two offered through public universities in the state. This degree includes a comprehensive internship experience and prepares students for careers in insurance sales, risk analysis, compliance, and more. Working professionals who have already completed their bachelor’s degree can continue their studies with a well-respected MBA. Classes for this program are held on Saturdays to accommodate busy schedules. Full-time students generally complete the USFSM Master’s of Business Administration in less than two years, while part-time students have the ability to complete courses at their own pace.
Student Life
The nations #1 beach, Siesta Key, is just a short drive from the USFSM campus. For those who prefer to stay on-site, there are 30 student-led clubs and organizations. The Office of Student Engagement also plans many events, activity fairs, and volunteer opportunities. Clubs such as the Organization for Women Leaders, The Global Society, and Ambassadors of Sarasota-Manatee, are all options that business students may be interested in. Recreational fitness programs such as dodgeball, yoga, flag football, and pick-up basketball are available as well.
Experiential learning opportunities include internships, service-learning projects, community engagement opportunities, and global engagement opportunities, such as studying abroad. Locations for global experiences included interesting places such as Iceland, India, the Galapagos Islands, Singapore, and Spain. The University holds a commitment to the success of active duty and retired military personnel. Because of this, they created the Military and Veterans Success Center, which is specifically designed to help military students meet their personal, professional, and academic goals. There is also an on-campus network where fellow military students can come together. This program is called Got Your Six and is gaining national recognition for its well-rounded approach to improving the educational experience for veterans.
Online Programs
There are several distance learning options through the College of Business. The Bachelor’s of Science in Cyber Security and IT is a convenient option for those who choose to complete their degree 100% online. The Risk Management and Insurance program is formatted with the option of 80% of course work online. Even primarily, distance students can expand their learning through summer study abroad trips, internships, and research opportunities.
