The IACBE-accredited business programs at The Hutton School of Business at the University of the Cumberlands have been educating business students for over 120 years. The heart of the school is centered around serving others, spiritual growth, leadership, and expanding knowledge and intellect. “We are enterprising. We are not business as usual.” The faculty and programs inspire critical thinking, compassion, ethical decision-making, commitment, excellence, responsibility, flexibility, innovation, and value in the students. There are many opportunities provided by the university for students to grow and succeed in this mission.
Education
The building that houses the Edward L. Hutton School of Business was built in 2004, replicating Independence Hall and is filled with advanced technology to provide the best educational experience possible. Students learn from faculty members who are highly educated and are leaders in the business community. Undergraduate students can study for a major or a minor in Accounting or Business Administration. The Bachelor in Business Administration prepares students in a broad range of business topics such as Finance and Marketing. These degrees are also offered online along with the graduate degrees. For the undergraduate students that need financial assistance to obtain a degree, there are scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study opportunities available. When students travel internationally, they gain an understanding of diverse cultures, how the world functions, and experience a lot of self-reflection. There are study abroad opportunities in places like Belize, France, England, Costa Rica, Spain, and Ireland.
Student Life
Getting involved in on-campus clubs and organizations such as Sigma Beta Delta, Student Government Association, College Democrats, College Republicans, UCPA Backpack Club, Relay for Life, and Intramural Sports can enhance a business student’s overall experience in many ways. As faith and service are a huge part of the school’s mission, there are several ministries available to take part in as well, such as Appalachian Ministries, Baptist Campus Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and International Student Ministries. The Mountain Outreach builds and renovates homes and buildings for those in need. Shoes 4 the Soul is a ministry to needy children where shoes, school supplies, socks, and backpacks are provided. More resources for students include Counseling Services, Career Services, Health Services, the Health & Wellness Center, the Academic Resource Center, and accommodations for students with disabilities.
Online Programs
The Hutton School of Business provides numerous highly ranked online degree programs for students at all levels. This provides a flexible, affordable, and convenient way to obtain a degree from home and at times that fit into hectic schedules. Undergraduate students can earn an online Associate in Business Administration, Bachelor in Business Administration, or a Bachelor in Accounting. Graduate students can pursue the online Master in Business Administration, Master in Project Management, Master in Strategic Management, Doctor of Business Administration, and the Doctor of Philosophy in Business.
